2.2Facilities: Using the new building?

  • The new building for The Students’ Union opened in September and new facilities were available for all clubs and Societies to use. These include a new recording studio, desks for Western Eye, an activity studio and a conference room.

3.Member and Society Development

3.1 The ‘Extra Mile’ Scheme

  • The Extra Mile scheme is open to all Students' Union volunteers and is here to recognise and reward the worthwhile work that you do for your activity.
  • Taking on a leadership role while you are a student is a fantastic way to develop skills such as time management, communication, interpersonal skills and financial management that will be vital to employment after your degree. The Extra Mile scheme helps you recognise and record the time and effort you have put in to making your activity a success; providing you with certification of the hours you’ve contributed, so that your commitment can be easily recognised by future employers.

3.2‘Off The Wall’

  • Off The Wall - Something For All gives you the chance to try out 19 fun, non-competitive sports and activities during your time at UWE. Membership costs just £10, and gives you access to all activities within the programme, including learn to courses, as well as drop in sessions. Those just wanting to attend the drop in sessions can pay as you go for a £1 fee per session, or alternatively pay full OTW membership.
  • Available to all students, Off The Wall offers you the chance to engage in sport, leisure, and recreational exercise and fitness activities in a fun, social and relaxed atmosphere, across all UWE Campuses and various city centre locations. Whether you want to keep fit, or try something new, Off The Wall provides the perfect opportunity for everyone to become involved, with no prior experience or knowledge necessary, and no gym or sports club membership required.
  • You can also become an ambassador for ‘Off The Wall’ & UWE Sport promoting the project and the range of activities available to students. For more information go to:

5.Greener Futures

The Greener Futures certificate is recognition of Sports Clubs, Societies and Networks commitment to a sustainable future.
