Job Purpose
Develop and direct the cross-college strategy for HE and Higher Level skills.To ensure a coherent curriculum offering across the college, maximising long term funding streams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Development, monitoring and quality checking of HE strategic objectivesin line with national policy and College procedures. Through the College’s and partners’ deliberative structures to report on progress against objectives and KPIs and proactively respond to changes, challenges and opportunities.
  • Development, monitoring and quality checking of Higher Apprenticeship schemes.
  • Production and maintenance of literature articulating the strategy, vision, actions and targets within the HE Strategy, taking ownership of communicating this information to wider stakeholders.
  • Undertake ‘horizon scanning’ research of policy developments, market opportunities and business forecasts in relation to specific customer grouping to design and develop curriculum which is enriching for students and the communities the College serves.
  • Facilitate strategic planning/business planning events, investigating opportunities to shape the whole College response for the specified customer grouping.
  • Work with the Curriculum Faculties & Business Development Team to ensure effective delivery of the strategy for the specified area.
  • Ensure that Learner Journey Strategies are embedded in the HE offer by collaborating with key departments in the College and developing joint procedures and ensuring they are enacted.
  • Ensure long term growth/revenue opportunities are maximised by effective bid writing in order to secure future income streams.
  • Represent the College on external strategy groups and partnerships related to the specified intervention/curriculum strategy.
  • Establish strong communication channels and undertake consultations with business partners and other key stakeholders to ensure that developments are inclusive and involve the widest College community.
  • Remain professionally competent and keep abreast of dynamic HE landscape.
  • Advise colleagues and the wider College on all aspects of HE.

  • Strategic thinking and subsequent planning experience in formulating and managing strategies

  • Ability to influence and challenge operational leaders/managers across the organisation
  • Understanding of sector trends and provision of a responsive and well considered curriculum offer
  • HE and higher apprenticeship operational experience
  • Strong analytical, presentation, communication and organizational skills
  • Higher Education processes and reporting
  • SFA processes and reporting

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of HEFCE requirements
  • Knowledge of the TEF, NSS, DLHE, UK Quality Code for Higher Education and any other associated quality system
  • Knowledge of how to put policy and quality systems into action
  • Knowledge of specified intervention/curriculum policy, products, services, pricing, and technologies
  • Knowledge of KPIs and strategy

Qualifications
  • Educated to Degree level – essential
  • Management/Business qualification at level 7- preferred
  • PGCE/Cert Ed- essential
  • Track record of CPD
  • At least HEA Associate Fellowship or a willingness to work towards this - essential
