SUBJECT: New scope questions

We have recentlyThrough careful consideration, the project team has decided to outsource the server of the new Customer Care Portal to IBM server services at a cost of $3,000/month. An evaluation on LSS’ current system requirements shows indicates that outsourcing the hardware would not only be cost effective but would also aid in managing LSS’ rapid growth. IBM, offering offers optimal support, availability, and increased application service levels. IBM will be expected contracted to host the server as well as maintain it throughout the application’s lifetime.

Several concerns arise with this decision to outsource. Will there be effective clear and consistent communication between the project team and the outsourcing team? Withinin communication, conflict or problems could arise and requirements may not be met. Is IBM able to provide effective logical security on around the server to make sure that outside people cannot hack into the systemrestrict unauthorized access? Confidential information will be maintained within the application and we riskWe do not want unauthorized people to access to our customer’s information with poor logical security controls. Does IBM maintain servers within an environmentally secure location? Is IBM able to prevent significant environmental damage to the server, such as overheating or flooding? If the server was to shut downunexpectedly become unavailable due to damage it would may be very detrimental to our company’s reputation and would may decrease customer satisfaction. These things questions should be kept in mind when evaluating the decision to outsource the application.
