DevCentral Programmability CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER AT THE TIME OF ENTRY TOBE ELIGIBLE. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

  1. Introduction. TheDevCentral Programmability Contest issponsored by F5 Networks, Inc., 401 Elliott Ave. W., Seattle, WA 98119 (“F5”) and is governed by these Official Rules, as well as the DevCentral Terms of Use and the DevCentral EULA located at (3) Category Prizes and one (1) Grand Prize winner will be selected from among all eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  2. Timing. The Contest begins on June 1, 2016 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time ("PT") and ends on June 30, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. PT ("Contest Period"). F5's computer is the official time keeping device for this Contest.
  3. Eligibility and Selection. All entries must be original code (modifications to other code samples are acceptable so long as attribution is present) and new to the codeshare, submitted during the month of June. All entries must be uploaded to the DevCentral “Codeshare” page and tagged with the contest category and custom “programmability contest” tag to be considered.Other tags may be used, but the “programmability contest” tag must be included for the code to be considered. All entries must load/compile on BIG-IP version 11.5 or higher.Multiple entries are acceptable. Employees, officers and directors of F5, any prize contributors, their respective related companies, franchisees and agents, as well as the immediate family (defined as parents, spouse, children, siblings and grandparents) and household members of each such F5 employee, officer and director are not eligible to enter. By participating, entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of F5, which are final and binding in all respects. Void where prohibited.

Candidates will first be narrowed down by community voting to determine the 3 finalists in each category. Winners will be selected and ranked by five (5) members of the F5 DevCentral team, along with members of the 2016 DevCentral MVP Class. Contest categories are iRules, iControl (REST or SOAP,) iApps, or any combination of the three. Selection criteria includes:

  1. Creativity in using code to solve a problem
  2. Efficiency in using code (the fewer lines that solve the problem, the better)
  3. Applicability for a large audience (looking for solution to common problem that will help a wide audience rather than a niche solution that only applies to small group).
  1. Disqualification: Entrants selected must comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements.
  2. Prizes. Prize winnerswill be selected during the MVP summit July 12-13, 2016, with results posted to DevCentral July 15, 2016.One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded and will consist of Brenthaven Prostyle SlimPack, Sennheiser Presence UC Bluetooth Headset, Mophie Charger, and DevCentral Shirt. The total value of the Grand Prize package is $340.00 USD. Three (3) Category prizes will also be awarded for each of the iRules, iControl, and iApp categories. Each Category prize will consist of Mophie Charger and DevCentral Shirt. The total value of each of the Category prizes is $95.00 USD.

The potential Grand Prize Winners will be notified by email within ten (10) days of the drawing. The potential winners of the Grand Prize Drawing must sign and return to F5, within ten (10) days of being notified, aPrize Winner Form in order to claim his/her prize. If the potential winner cannot be contacted within ten (10) days of the first attempt to contact him/her or if he/she fails to sign and return the Prize Winner Form within the required time period prize will be forfeited. Potential winner must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that the potential Prize Winner is disqualified for any reason, or if prize is returned as undelivered or not claimed, the next ranked winner will be selected. Prize winners who meet all of the eligibility requirements, are verified, and have fully complied with these Rules, will receive their prize within 2-3 weeks after the conclusion of the Contest.

  1. Taxes. Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes and other fees associated with prize receipt and use. No other substitution, assignment or transfer of prizes permitted, except by F5, who reserve the right to substitute a prize with another prize of greater or equal value if prize cannot be awarded as stated. F5 will withhold and/or report taxes as required by the applicable law of Washington and winner's jurisdiction.
  2. Publicity. Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest constitutes winner's consent to F5's use of winner's name, likeness, voice, opinions, hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration.
  3. General Conditions. F5 reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest if fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond their reasonable control impairs the integrity of the Contest, as determined by F5 in their sole discretion. In such event, F5 reserve the right to award the prize(s) at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. F5 reserves the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or any other Contest, or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately damage F5's Web site or undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws and, should such an attempt be made, F5 reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. F5's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
  4. Release. By participating in this Contest and/or receipt of any prize, winner agrees to release and hold harmless F5, its respective related companies, franchisees, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize.
  5. Disclaimer. F5 is not responsible for and entrant hereby releases F5 from any claims arising from: (1) incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information or late, lost, stolen, illegible, incomplete, misdirected, or entries received through impermissible or illegitimate channels, all of which will be disqualified; (2) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of any telephone, computer, network, hardware or software; (3) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any service; (4) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (5) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; or (6) any injury or damage to persons or property, including but not limited to entrant's computer, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant's participation in the Contest or from downloading any material from F5's Web site(s), regardless of whether the material was prepared by F5 or a third party, and regardless of whether the material is connected to F5’s Web site by a hypertext link. If for any reason an entrant's entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant's sole remedy is another entry in the Grand Prize Drawing, provided that if it is not possible to award another entry due to discontinuance of the Contest, or any part of it, for any reason, F5, at its discretion, may elect to hold a random drawing from among all eligible entries received up to the date of discontinuance for any or all of the prizes offered herein. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. In event that production, technical, seeding, programming or any other reasons cause more than stated number of prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be available and/or claimed F5 reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible prize claims.
  6. Dispute and Limitation of Liability. Entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prizes awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington or the appropriate Washington State Court located in King County, Washington, U.S.A.; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to $100; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, special, and consequential damages and any other damages. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant orF5 in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Washington, U.S.A. without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Washington, U.S.A. or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Washington, U.S.A. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
