Deutsch II 2nd Quarter Project

The Task (Die Aufgabe): A group of 4-5 students will write and later perform in class a five-minute skit based on the last episode of Deutsch Aktuell Video Series. The project will be worth one test grade.

I. In their episode, students should answer the following questions:

  1. How will Zehra react after discovering the photo of the girl in Marco’s car? Will she break up with Marco (sich von Marco trennen)? How will Marco react?
  1. Is Marco jealous (eifersüchtig auf) of Daniel? Does Marco still want to get to know Sabine better?
  1. What will happen to Sabine and Daniel this summer? Will they be going steady by summer’s end (Werden sie fest befreundet sein)?
  1. Will Sabine’s parents force her to go on vacation with them to Austria or will she be able to spend the summer in Berlin with her friends?

Students will write a script (ein Drehbuch) in German with parts for Zehra, Sabine, Daniel and Marco. They may also add Emine or Herr and/or Frau Hoffmann (Sabines Eltern) if desired.

Students will submit their Drehbuch typed and double-spaced (Times Roman 12-font) to the instructor by Monday, December 20 . Ten points per day will be deducted from Drehbücher submitted after the deadline. Please do not forget to write the names of all group members on your Drehbuch.

II. The Drehbücher will be graded based on creativity, vocabulary, accuracy of the language and grammar. The grade for the Drehbuch will represent 50% of the overall grade for the project.

III. The students will perform the corrected Drehbuch in front of the class at a later date to be determined by the instructor. Prior to performing their sketch, students will present a copy of their corrected Drehbuch to the instructor. They will also write all new vocabulary used in their skit on the board so that their classmates can better understand the skit. Students’ performances will be judged based on their preparedness, pronunciation, and fluency with which they deliver their lines. The performance will represent the remaining 50% of the overall project grade.
