For the first week of September, I was a peer leader for the Leadership Institute. This is a program for 100 incoming freshman that gives them a head start to school. They learn a lot about themselves along side getting insight about the Leadership Minor here at the University of Rhode Island. I worked with another peer leader to help these kids really develop over the course of a weekend. I learned how to be a leader within a group as well as facilitating activities.

September 2012 - Practicum Hours at the Kingston Child Development Center

December 2012 Kingston RI

During my first semester of Junior year, I was enrolled in HDF 203

which is Intro to Work with Children. As a requirement for the class,

we were to volunteer at a child development center three hours a

week for the semester. It has been one of my favorite college experiences. While volunteering, I learned so many new skills when

it comes to the education of children from a Social Constructivist perspective. I also learned many techniques in order to lead a successful play activity.

September 2012 – Kitchen Assistant at Sigma Kappa

December 2013 Kingston RI

My junior year, I was offered a job cleaning dishes at the Sigma Kappa house on campus. What began as a very simple job as evolved into becoming a right hand for the house chef. I now do tasks from prepping for breakfast the next morning, to cooking dinner for her when she needs to leave early. While performing this job, I have learned how to handle a lot of responsibility. I went through a couple of months where I would work five days a week because there was no one else who could fill the second bus boy position. On top of that, I have learn multiple ways on how to approach situations and execute them in the most efficient manner. While it takes my coworker at least four hours to do our job, I can do it in three.
