ACCOMPANYING STATEMENT

Under section 10 of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1995, the Remuneration Tribunal (Tribunal) is required to inquire into, and determine, the remuneration, allowances and other entitlements for the holders of positions referred to the Tribunal by the Chief Minister.

On 18 October 2013, the Chief Minister requested that the Tribunal determine the remuneration, allowances and other entitlements to be granted to the Presiding Member (President) and Members of the Industry Panel established under the Independent Competition andRegulatory Commission Act 1997to review the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission's price direction for regulated water and sewerage services for the period 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2019.

The Tribunal considered information about the Industry Panel.Noting that the Panel will have the same powers as the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) in conducting apricing regulation investigation and will be required to undertake a similar process to theICRC's investigation, the Tribunal decided that the duties of the Presiding Member and Member were similar to those of the Senior Commissioner and Commissioner for the ICRC respectively, and should be remunerated as such.

These positions will be added to Determination 9 of 2013, Part-Time Holders of Public Office.
