Marine Corps League Detachment 1067 Scholarship Guidelinesfor Graduating High School Seniors

  1. Scholarship will be awarded to an immediate family member living in the same household of a Retired U.S. Uniformed Services personnel residing in Carteret, Craven, Jones or Pamlico Counties, or an immediate family member living in the same household whose sponsor isan Active Duty U.S. Uniformed Services personnel permanently assigned to a command within the ABOVE FOUR (4) county area. Deployed military must be permanently assigned to a command within the above FOUR (4) county areas.
  1. The applicant must complete the 12th grade and receive a diploma.. Applicants are not required to attend a college or university in North Carolina.
  1. Applicants must be enrolled as a “Full – Time Student”. (Minimum of 12 credit hours).
  1. Applicant must:
  2. Provide a certified copy high school transcript.
  3. Provide SAT / ACT score results; high school grade point average, and class standing.
  4. Provide certified copy of community college or college/university letter of acceptance.
  5. Provide a statement of commitment by the applicant to attend the selected community college or college/university.
  6. Provide a resume of Major or skill areas to be studied and degree planned.
  7. Provide confirmation of credit hours enrolled in a selected community college or college/university.
  8. Provide a list of current and past organizational affiliations, activities and responsibilities.
  9. Provide two current, dated personal letters of reference/recommendation. Persons writing letters must not be related to the applicant. Letters include writers name, occupation, home address and telephone number.
  10. Provide an essay of 500 words or less which includes:
  1. Why you have chosen your selected profession?
  2. What are your plans for the future?
  1. Applications and supporting information, once submitted, becomes the property of the Marine Corps League, Detachment 1067, Cherry Point NC,and Scholarship Committee.

Applicants should rest assured scholarship applications will be treated as privileged information and will not be released without applicants’ consent.
