The Odyssey Project

Choose one of the following projects for you and/or a partner to complete outside of class. This project will count as a test grade.

Choose wisely to show off the artistic and creative personalities of both you and/or your partner. These will be presented before your class. Your overall goal is to WOW us with your knowledge and creativity by using The Odyssey as your guide. You have plenty of time to work on your project, make sure you take notes as we read so you will be able to create a wonderful project

Presentations will start and all projects are due on ______Friday, October 18, 2013______.

Here are your options:

  1. Pretend you are Odysseus, trying to get home after ten years abroad at war. You long to get back home because you miss your wife, your child, your dog, and your kingdom, but the gods are making it extremely difficult for you to make it home safe and sound. You are to write tennarrative journal entries (2 paragraphs each, 5 sentences per paragraph) from Odysseus’ perspective that address his struggles to get home (War in Troy, Lotus Eaters, Cyclopes, Sirens, etc.). How does he feel about what is happening to him? What are some of the things that he sees? Remember, this is Odysseus’ private journal, so you will write from his perspective. You are to also include at least 5 pictures that illustrate events that occur during his journey.Your journal must also have a front and back cover.

  1. Construct a comic book/graphic novel for The Odyssey. You must follow the plot of the epic. Be sure to include all parts of The Odyssey including characters, obstacles, etc. in the order that they occur. You must have at least 30 frames of various sizes. These frames can be no larger than ½ of a regular piece of copy paper and no smaller than 1/6th of a piece of paper. You must also include direct quotes from The Odyssey.
