Start Print Shop as previously instructed.

Opening an existing project

For this session we will open the sign that was saved in Class 3 and learn how to use some additional Print Shop features.

Insert the Flash drive that you used to save your sign in class 3.

From the desktop click the Start button Click My Computer

Move the mouse pointer to The letter of the Flash Drive

Double click the file name where you saved your sign.

Adding a Border

On the top of the window, click InsertthenBorders

Click Border on the toolbar and click on Add/Change Picture.

Note, if there is anything in the Enter Search Words box, click the Reset box below it to clear the contents.

In the Choose Category for Graphic scroll down and click Celebrations.

Search for the graphic you would like to use in the border, then click it and click Select.

The selected art displays on all four sides and four corners of the border.

You can remove the graphic from a side or corner by clicking on it, then press the Delete key on the keyboard. Note: If you aren't satisfied with the last change, you can undo an action by clicking Edit on the toolbar, then click the Undo.

To resize the top and bottom or the left and right border, move the mouse pointer to the inside edge until it changes to <||>.

Click and drag the border vertically or horizontally, as needed, to resize the border.

Click the Close button to close the borders window and place the border in your project.

To Resize the Border Click on the border to select it. Handles (small black boxes) will appear around it. Click one of the handles surrounding the border and keep the mouse button pressed. Drag the handle by moving the mouse. This will resize the border. Release the mouse button when the border is the desired size.

To modify the border double-click on it to open the Borders Window.

To Move the Border Click once on the border and keep the left mouse button pressed. Reposition the border as needed by moving the mouse. Release the left mouse button once the border is placed where desired.

If you wish to print the sign with its border, follow the procedure used in prior classes.

Adding Background Panel Color So far, our projects have had white back grounds (as if on white paper).You can add a color to the background of a project as follows.

Open the sign you saved to a Flash Drive.

On the left of the window, click the Effects button. Then click Insert Panel Color and Texture from the pop-up menu.

Click on your choice of a background color. Note that when you point to a color, a slightly larger box with that color is displayed.

Click the OK button

If you wish to print the sign with its background, follow the procedure used in prior classes.

Adding Texture to the background

On the left of the window, click the Effects button. Then click insertPanel Color and Texture from the pop-up menu.

To add or modify a texture, click the Texture index tab.

Click on your choice of textures. Caution, some of these are very busy and may reduce the legibility of your project.

Click the OK button to display your project with the added texture.

If you wish to print the sign with its textured background, follow the procedure used in prior classes.
