  1. Key Roles & Accountabilities
  • To deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment by providing Signalling Apprentices with a planned learning experience, managing the learning process, guiding and supporting learners.
  • Carry out onsite assessment NVQ Assessment of Apprentices, adhering to standard college and awarding body procedures. This will include some evenings, night work and travel across the UK.
  • Acting as personal tutor to a group of Apprentices and provide pastoral care.
  • To provide assignment and assessment material appropriate to Signalling and Telecommunications Engineering to meet the requirements of BTEC Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • To evaluate and assess the work of Apprentices in relation to the curriculum criteria.
  • To produce schemes of work and lesson plans in accordance with current best practice.
  • To set and assess work and provide opportunities for Apprentice feedback.
  • To engage with the management team to ensure high quality teaching and learning occurs.
  • To keep accurate and effective systems of administration.
  • Develop existing and new Railway Engineering curriculum at Level 3 & 4
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding and retention of industry accreditation relating to NSARE, NwR & LU.
  • Keep abreast of changing legislation in order to advise and develop training requirements.
  • Report and Engage with GTA Training Manager & GTA Training Advisor on the progress of Apprentices.
  • Reflect critically on teaching practice, materials and strategies used and how performance can be improved.
  • Take part in marketing activities and attend events which may involve some evenings or visiting schools, employers and other organisations.
