BBC is currently seeking an Assistant Site Superintendent who will support our Kitsilano Secondary School Replacement Project initiative. The role will have the following responsibilities:

SCOPE OF WORK:

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Assistant Site Superintendentwill be responsible for site coordination of the BBC labour force and Sub-Trades, and will effectively execute the project schedule. The incumbent will liaise with the Site Superintendent and Project Directoron any matters related to the administration of the project. This role is considered part of our Project Operations team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will work directly with the BBC Site Superintendent
  • Will coordinate and manage the BBC Hourly Labour Group and Sub-Trades activities on site to achieve the project schedule
  • Assists in site meetings with trades
  • Maintains daily construction book
  • Reads and interprets construction drawings and specifications
  • Controls the ordering and management of tools, materials and equipment required for the job site
  • Assesses and approves all BBC labour force timesheets
  • Performs construction related tasks as required (i.e. carpentry, misc.)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10 yrs related construction experience including 5 yrs as a Assistant Site Superintendent
  • Knowledge and experience with internal and envelope trades
  • Strong management skill sets, with a hands-on approach
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of the construction process and timelines
  • Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving/reasoning skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Anticipated start date: April 3, 2017
