DESIGN 1 – Clothing

This first semester course will utilize the text Fashion. Films, guest speakers, field trips will supplement the text, report writing and specialized hands-on activities to demonstrate design through clothing and textiles. Direct hands-on activities include individual color analysis, the principles of design, style and proportion to enhance the appearance of the student’s body shape, the construction of garments utilizing current technology to design individualized clothing projects.

HOUSING AND INTERIOR DESIGN

This second semester course will utilize the text Homes, Today, and Tomorrow. Films, guest speakers, field trips, and hands on activities will demonstrate design through housing. Students will have the opportunity to design their dream home through the computerized application of architectural floor and house plans. Interior design applications will be a primary focus of student learning.
