SUBJECT: Modification to Radiological Examination Workflow,

Athol Memorial Hospital

Please adhere to the following modifications (2 new fax numbers and where to fax to, depending on the time) to the workflow guidelines to ensure a smooth workflow process as well as optimum patient care.

·  A Radiologist is scheduled to report to Athol Memorial Hospital, Monday-Friday, 8AM-12PM.

·  Monday-Friday: After 12PM or the radiologist’s departure, examinations may be transmitted from Athol Memorial Hospital to IMPAX at Saint Vincent Hospital.

·  Weekends: 24 hours/day, examinations may be transmitted from Athol Memorial Hospital to IMPAX at Saint Vincent Hospital.

·  The technologist at Athol Memorial Hospital must notify staff at Saint Vincent Hospital of the transmission of radiological examinations to IMPAX, especially if the examination is an emergency case that requires a “wet read callback.” The telephone number to call is (508) 363-9384. This is a direct number to the RIS Assistant Desk and should be utilized only Monday-Friday, 8AM-6PM.

·  After 6PM, Monday-Friday, and weekends, 24hours/day, the technologist at Athol Memorial Hospital must page the on-call resident at (508) 363-5252, ID# 2076, for notification of an examination needing a reading.

·  A Radiologist Initial Reading form obtaining patient demographics must accompany transmitted images.

·  The form should be faxed to the Radiology Viewing Room from 8AM-11PM at (508) 363-7035.

·  The form should be faxed to the Radiology Call Room from 11PM-8AM at (508) 363-3459.

·  As a back-up should there be no answer at the RIS Assistant Desk or no response from the Radiology Resident, call Emergency Radiography at (508) 363-9387 to notify a technologist of the transmission of a study.

·  In case of difficulties with the digitization and transmission of studies from Athol Memorial Hospital to IMPAX at Saint Vincent Hospital, I am on-call and available for support. I am available by pager 24 hours/day.

·  To reach the Saint Vincent Hospital Paging System, dial (508) 363-5252. My pager ID is 9016.
