Background:The Department of Animal Food Sciences is one of six departments within the College of Agricultural Sciences Natural Resources at Texas Tech University. The department is housed in a state-of-the-art research and teaching facility. There are 25 faculty members in the department. The department is a key playerin the research enterprise at Texas Tech University. This position is integral to continued research growth in the department and on the Texas Tech campus and to contribute to student educational activities.

Responsibilities:The successful applicant will be a faculty member in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences.

Expectations include:

  • Extensive travel and FSMA training in English and Spanish.
  • Collaborate on research projects as appropriate across the department, college, and university
  • Develop scholarly activity at scientific conferences and publications in peer reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to the development of graduate and undergraduate students (e.g., bench-top training and service on graduate committees)
  • Teach undergrad and graduate coursed in Food Microbiology, Food Safety Systems, Food Safety Regulations when required by the department
  • Service to the Department such as attendance at departmental meetings and participation on committees where appropriate
  • Contribute to the development of food safety training activities national and international, organized by the department.
  • Contribute to the development of the food safety research group by managing laboratory activities conducted by interns, undergraduate and graduate students

Qualifications:PhD and preferably experience as a post-doctoral research associated in the field of food safety and microbiology.

International experience is preferred. The position will handle food safety projects globally.

Writing, reading, speaking, and comprehension of Spanish and English is required.

Demonstrated experience in food safety system. HACCP and FSMA certifications are required to develop international programs.

Salary:Commensurate with experience. This is a position funded on soft funds. Extension of the position is contingent on the procuring of external funding.
