IT Manager

DEPARTMENT:Information Technology Department

CONTRACT TYPE:Full-time permanent

LOCATION: KohPich Campus, CIS, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

REPORTS TO: Principal/ Head of Business Operation

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Under general supervision of The School Principal, which develop and ensure that the school systems are effective running.

Responsibilities:

Desktop & Application Support

  • Perform a wide range of hardware troubleshoot and upgrades.
  • Detect, diagnose and resolve most PC, printer and peripheral device faults.
  • Follow instructions to install and upgrade client/server applications (such as the school’s MIS).
  • Identify and install essential software patches.
  • Identify application compatibility issues.
  • Manage Email System such as creating new email addresses, resetting password and managing the mailing list.

Server & Network Support

  • Manage active network components including switches, wireless access points and controllers.
  • Install software on server, troubleshooting installation.
  • Maintain hardware and software on the server.
  • Manage Printing.
  • Create network shares and manage access rights.
  • Setup disk caches and firewalls, and maintain Internet filtering systems.
  • Manage remote access to the school’s network.

Configuration & Installation

  • Design and apply a simple process to manage configuration and change within the school.
  • Assist in creating and implementing a structured approach to rolling out new hardware or software, including procurement, testing and assessing the needs for user training.
  • Manage collection of, appropriate access to, and storage of relevant data.
  • Plan and implement installation of PCs, printers, interactive whiteboards, projectors and other network and ICT devices.

Continuity, Maintenance & Security

  • Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
  • Assess and differentiate risks to key systems and develop appropriate individual system recovery procedures.
  • Develop a maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain an up to date inventory of hardware and of software licenses.
  • Identify failing systems and suggest solutions.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing backup and virus protection policies.
  • Ensure school policy on staff and pupil access to data and files is implemented.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

Service Request Management

  • Interpret detailed diagnostic information
  • Priorities resolution and determine whether external support is required.
  • Monitor and manage server logs and use them to inform developments/support.
  • Produce reports from the support log to provide basic management information on the volume and nature of requests.

Strategy & Planning

  • Maintains school's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
  • Have an overall view of the capabilities of the school’s ICT service and contribute to continuous improvement to meet future needs.
  • Plan for major developments of the ICT service and project manage their implementation.
  • Directs technological research by studying school goals, strategies, practices, and user projects.

Budget & People Management

  • Ensure ICT in school is best value and fit for purpose.
  • Support the full range of financial planning for ICT including purchasing and help to estimate future budget requirements.
  • Accomplishes information technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

Requirements:

Experience & Knowledge

  • Substantial practical experience in developing, installing and maintaining IT networked systems.
  • Substantial experience of supporting end user desktop environments.
  • Substantial experience of working in an IT and IT network environment.
  • Experience of supervising IT Support Officer.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of different hardware and software.
  • Understanding the network standards such as TCP/IP Network.
  • Current knowledge of IT and IT Networks.
  • Familiar with Google Apps or G Suite for Education.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of workstation environments, e.g. Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Linux.

  • Demonstrable track record in customer care/service skills.

Qualifications:

  • The post holder should hold at least Bachelor degree of Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least 3 year experience in the field related.
  • Other qualifications in IT, e.g. Microsoft or Cisco would be an advantage
  • Professional English proficiency.
