SUMMARY:

The Cook prepares all food orders in a quick and timely manner and performs various other duties as required by management. Performs all functions in accordance with applicable laws and gaming regulations, mission and objectives of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and Sugar Creek Casino, as well as established policies, procedures and controls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

The following is a list of the main duties/responsibilities. However, other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by reporting senior.

1.Responsible for fast,clean and sanitary servicing of all menu items to the servers.

2.Ensures each order sent out is uniform and consistent.

3.Controls food production to include: proper cooking methods, cooking time and temperature and ensuring sanitation, handling and storage of prepared food and leftovers.

4.Prepares for rush period of work without getting behind.

5.Checks all work stations.

6.Keeps fully stockedin work station organizes orders.

7.Gets meat needed or cut to meet the day’s needs.

8.Fills special orders when customers request it.

9.Organizes the work day.

10.Is flexible with break schedules to meet customer’s needs.

11.Solves crisis situations without managers.

12.Keeps errors to a minimum.

13.Oversees all areas of kitchen and checks that concession items are fully stocked.

14.Reports to manager on duty with periodic work status reports.

15.Completes both daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance duties.

16.Performs all other duties to be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  1. Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques.
  1. Able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit.
  1. Must obtain and maintain a Gaming License.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  1. Six months experience with all phases and operations of the kitchen preferred.
  1. At least one year experience as a cook or related experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government laws and regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, clients, customers, media, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Basic analytical and deductive reasoning ability. Must be competent in computer skills. Must have superior interpersonal relations skills. Must have superior planning and organizational skills, ability to manage complex projects and investigations.
