On facing Dallas’ offense
“We definitely want to definitely stop [Dallas RB Ezekiel Elliott] ‘Zeek’, stop that run game and see if he can come out and throw the ball on us a lot. That’s the game plan and we have a big responsibility us on the back end to be able to shut them down. That’s what we do.”
On slowing down Elliott
“We’re going to stack the box. You have to tackle well because he makes a lot of arm tackles miss, so we have to game tackle him. I think the D-line—[Chargers RB Melvin] Gordon rushed that first play, then after that we pretty much shut down there runs. I think that’s something we’ve improved on and we’re looking forward to it.”
On whether WR Demaryius Thomas is better than Dallas WR Dez Bryant
“I’m always going with D.T.; he’s been my receiver for seven years. I ride with him any day.”
On if he was a Dallas fan growing up
“I did. I was either rooting for the Chiefs or the Cowboys and I definitely wasn’t rooting for the Chiefs. They weren’t good then and they weren’t winning. That made it easy for me to go for the Cowboys.”
On the excitement of playing Dallas
“It’s going to be my second time playing against them and the first time we played them I had missed the whole second half. This time I’ll get a chance to play and I’m excited. It’s going to be a great game. All you hear is them talk about Dak [Prescott], ‘Zeek’ and Dez. It’s going to be a great battle. I trained with a couple of those guys on the other team too. [Dallas CB] Byron Jones and [Dallas DB] Anthony Brown. It’d be fun little bragging rights in the offseason.”
On covering the Dallas’s wide receivers
“We’ve done this before. We did this in the past versus the Panthers. I can’t think [right now]. I have to go through the list of great running teams. We’ve done this a lot, it’s something we’re comfortable with and we’re confident we can handle it. As long as we don’t allow a lot of explosive plas, we feel like we should be able to handle their receivers.”
