JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision, provides clinical support services involvingdistribution, collection, and storage of medical supplies andequipment.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Receives instrument cassettes from Central Sterile Unit (CSU) anddistributes to students and faculty.
  1. Receives, inspects, and verifies return of all contaminated instruments. Initiates procedures regarding missing or damagedinstruments.
  1. Conducts physical inventory and orders supplies to maintainadequate inventory levels in dispensary and in laboratories.Receives, unpacks, labels, and places supplies in proper order onshelves or cluster cabinets.
  1. Logs instruments in and out using manual or bar code system.Enters and retrieves data from computerized database.
  1. Maintains and updates logs and records of supply transactions.Compiles and files documents such as packing slips, purchaserequisitions, and vendor information.
  1. Maintains supplies kept in patient education rooms such as forms,pamphlets, and tools used in demonstrating proper dental hygiene.
  1. Distributes lab coats, patient charts, small equipment, and othersupplies to chairside.
  1. Observes Universal Precautions regarding the handling ofinfectious waste.

  1. Performs a variety of routine clerical duties such as answeringphones, taking and relaying information, and filing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High-school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: None

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations. Ability to followoral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectivelyorally and in writing. Ability to perform extensive standing andwalking. Ability to push and pull carts of supplies to make deliveriesaround building. Ability to lift, stock shelves, and load carts ofsupplies and equipment. Ability to operate computers and otherstandard office equipment. Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-daterecords and logs. Ability to wear and work in personal protectiveequipment.

OTHER:

Except for qualifications established by law, additionalrelated experience and formal education in which one has gained theknowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of thework of the job class may be substituted for the education orexperience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 collegecredits being equivalent to one year of experience.
