The Information/Executive Session of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit Board of Directors was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by President Edward Cardow. Present for the meeting in addition to
Mr. Cardow were: Mr. Agovino, Mr. Boughner, Mrs. Carey, Mr. Cubbage, Mrs. Galbraith, Ms. Karwoski, Mr. Kelley, Ms. Mackrides, Ms. Mann, Mr. McElwee, Mr. Reardon, Ms. Solomon and Dr. Sonntag. Solicitor Puppio and members of the Intermediate Unit staff were also present.
Executive Session
An executive session was held from 6:20 to 6:47 p.m. to discuss personnel issues and legal matters.
Information Session
President Cardow called the information session to order at 7:01 p.m.
Report from Head Start Representative
Ms. Burrell reported that the Head Start Program had several successful family welcomings on September 3, 2013 with many of the families in attendance AT Woodlyn, Eddystone, Southeast Delco, CTE Folcroft, Madison Regional and Chester Township Regional centers. The first day of school was September 4, 2013. She also distributed the Child and Adult Care Food program report for the month June 2013.
Committee Reports
Chuck Glassmire and Mike Webb presented an update on 21st Century Innovation Fund and Learning. They reported that post-Baccalaureate certificate programs has full cohort established. The social media rollout has begun with the establishment of a DCIU Facebook page and Twitter accounts.
Lew Boughner reported on the Facilities Committee meeting. Ray McFall introduced Josh Fazio, the new Supervisor of Facilities. Josh Fazio discussed the progress on the MEC Roofing Project. Ray McFall discussed progress of the Comprehensive Facilitates Project. We are currently meeting with architect and Directors/Supervisors to review space and program requirements and needs. Project Management bi-Weekly Meetings started September 5, 2013. Ray McFall presented proposal from MM Architects space planning services at Morton. Ray McFall discussed the DCIU use/provision of CNG and started research on CNG and Filling Stations. He also attended presentation at University of Delaware. We will start an investigation both calculations and physical requirements for filling stations and possible participants. Josh Fazio discussed the progress on the DelPass Project County Panic Alarm School System (DelPass). Field verified physical locations for installation. Setting schedule for install of required phone and electrical upgrades/relocations/new services.
Nancy Galbraith reported that the Personnel Policy Committee met in Executive session.
Dr. O’Shea reported that on opening day, he introduced the new Administrative Leadership Team and he discussed strategic goals and school safety. There were no opening day “glitches”.
