Accommodation

All the rooms in the department were new in 1990 when the school was amalgamated onto one site.

All rooms apart from the Metal shop have a projector type whiteboard, and all are fitted with a sound field system.

T2 – PC Suite

16 networked PC’s and carpeted clean design area. Access to scanner & Cutter plotter for vinyl design work.

T3

Very large room, designated organised as woodwork area with 2 wood lathes, mortice machine and 2 bench drills. Also the circular saw and bandsaw are sited here in a cordoned off area

T6 Multi Media Room

Clean Design area Used for electronics & modelling, vacuum former and bench drill, extraction for fumes in one corner. TV and video in corner.

T4 – Technology Area

Traditional woodwork room with wood lathe & sanding machine, 2 bench drills. This is currently home to our laser cutter.

T5 – Technology Area

Traditional metalwork room with 3 centre lathes, vertical miller, pillar drill, bench drill, soft soldering area, polisher, brazing hearth, forge and foundry area. Adjacent metal store.

T7 – Food Technology Area

Spacious room with six working areas each with its own cooker and sink. Integral resource area, adjacent pantry and a staff office.

T9 – Textiles Technology Area

Spacious room equipped with large tables positioned centrally and sewing machines stored in lockable cabinets. Four sinks available for wet work.

Key Stage 4

AQA GCSE full courses in Resistant Materials and Graphic Products Food Technology GCSE full course and OCR Textiles, Edexcel Diploma in Manufacturing, AQA Product design

Yr 10 will probably use a similar format toKS3, and will focus on developing skills necessary to produce quality coursework products.
