Friday / Scientific Method
Focus: Collecting data, Creating Graphs or Charts, and Drawing Conclusions
Control, Independent, and Dependent Variable / Why does a can of Diet Coke float in water and a Regular Coke sink?
Make Observations, form a Hypothesis, and Experiment with the correct variables.
Question-Will Coke and Diet coke sink in water?
Hypothesis-Regular coke and Diet Coke will both sink in water.
Observation-Diet coke will float in tap water whereas regular coke will sink in it
Conclusion-The hypothesis that regular coke and diet coke will sink in water is not proven.
Interactive notebook: control, variable, independent variable, dependent variable
Study Session / Define scientific method: (a series of steps followed to solve problems ) / What is a hypothesis? (an explanation that is based on scientific observation) / 0607.Inq.1 Design a simple experimental procedure with an identified control and appropriate variables.
0607.Inq.4 Draw a conclusion that establishes a cause and effect relationship supported by evidence
