To access these features (to meet vision, hearing, or mobility needs) in Microsoft Windows 98SE, go to:

Start / Settings / Control Panel / Accessibility Options /

then select various tabs on the Accessibility Properties dialog box.

Keyboard
StickyKeys / Use StickyKeys if you want to use Shift, Ctrl, or Alt key by pressing one key at a time. (shortcut = press the <Shift> key 5 times) / Useful for people who wish to type on the keyboard, using one key at a time.

FilterKeys / Use FilterKeys if you want Windows to ignore brief or repeated keystrokes, or to slow the repeat rate. / Helpful for older people or people who accidentally keep a key depressed too long.

ToggleKeys / Use ToggleKeys if you want to hear tones when pressing Caps Lock, Num Lock, and Scroll Lock. (shortcut = hold down <Num Lock> for five seconds) / Useful for people who accidentally press Caps Lock, or for ones who wish to lock the numbers or the scrolling features.

SoundSentry / Use SoundSentry if you want Windows to generate visual warnings when your system makes a sound. / Necessary, (in order to know that a window is changing) for computer users who have the sound turned off, or who cannot hear.

High Contrast / Use this option if you want Windows to use colors and fonts designed for easy reading. Options can include extra large fonts. / Required by older persons or visually impaired computer users.

MouseKeys / Use MouseKeys if you want to control the pointer with numeric keypad on your keyboard. Pointer speeds can be set. / Practical when the user likes to use precise controls for the pointer, rather than an irratic mouse.
General
Automatic reset / Automatically turns off accessibility features after idle for a set amount of minutes. / Handy for temporary use of accessibility features.

Notification / Give a warning message or make a sound when turning a feature on or off. / Helpful for people who want to know when an accessibility feature is being turned on or off.

SerialKey devices / SerialKey devices allow alternative hardware access to keyboard and mouse features. / Used by computer users who attach external accessibility devices to their computers.
