EPCOT Trip Information Letter

Thursday, May 19th 5:30 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.

  • The 7thgrade end of the year trip is to EPCOT in Orlando
  • EPCOT features a variety of educational and fun attractions. The students will be exposed to current and future technologies and walk through the World Showcase.
  • Regular academic activities will continue at school for the students who do not attend the field trip.

The Cost & Deadlines:

The total cost per student is $115. This covers the charter buses and admission ticket. Trip money and permission forms will be collected before school in the 7th grade building on the following dates only:

March 2nd3rd- $60 payment & permission form

April 5th & 6th-$55 balance due

Space is limited. Forms and payments will be taken in the order they are received.

If any student needs financial assistance for this trip, please e-mail or send your request directly to Mrs. Brooksbefore March 2nd. Please include a daytime phone number. Scholarships are based on our free and reduced lunch list. Arrangements for scholarships need to be made as soon as possible; therefore requests made after March 2nd will not be granted.

Behavior Policy

This trip is open to all 7th grade students who have not been assigned to In-School Detention (ISD) more than one time or assigned Out-of-School Suspension (OSS) from January 27th until the trip date. Students with excessive absences will not be eligible to attend the trip.

Arrival & Departure:

Students should be at Deerlake Middle School at 5:15 A.M. Please use the parent pick-up/drop off lanes in the front of the school. We will depart at 5:30 A.M. We cannot wait for late students! Parents should be at Deerlake at 10:30 P.M. to pick-up their children. Please do not wait for your child to call you. Students will not be allowed to exit through the front of the bus ramp. Also, to allow the buses to turn in, please do not block the bus ramp.

Trip Rules:

  1. Students must ride on their assigned bus.
  2. Students must follow the dress code. (Hats & sunglasses are allowed.)
  3. Students must follow all school rules and Code of Conduct, in addition to the rules set forth by EPCOT and the bus companies.
  4. Students must show respect to all chaperones and EPCOT employees.
  5. Students may bring phones and iPods, but are responsible for their belongings. The bus company is not liable for any items left on the bus. No portable DVD players or laptops will be allowed.

Food & Expenses:

We will not be stopping for meals on the trip down or back. Students will be allowed to bring their own individual sized snack and bottled water to be eaten at the rest area on the way down. For the trip back, students need to eat before they leave the park. In addition to the cost of the trip, students will need to bring sufficient money for lunch and dinneras well as souvenirs.
