Decant Arrangements for Kirn Primary School

and Dunoon Grammar School

As you know,Kirn Primarybeginthemove to Dunoon Grammar School on Thursday 2nd June. The Kirn pupils’ last day in their present building will be on Wednesday 1st June. From 2:00pm on this day, parents and carers are welcome to come into Kirn Primary School and enjoy the last chance to see around the old building.

Arriving and Leaving School

There are no changes to Dunoon Grammar School pupils’ current school day arrangements, including pupil drop off / lunchtimes.

Kirn Pupils will start schoolat Dunoon Grammar at 9.05am on Tuesday 7th June. Children should make their way to the Primary Playground at the rear of the schoolwhere staff will welcome them. If it is raining pupils can go to the Forum from 8.45am onwards, entering from the doors at the front of the building,which is highlighted on the diagram on Page 3.At the end of the school day, class teachers will bring their classes out to the front and side of the building.

Lunchtimes

Due to the change in the school day timings, lunch will be 45 minutes long. Pupils are welcome to go home for lunch if they wish, but they should return promptly to the school at the end of the lunch interval.

Class Locations

Please note that there is an updated classroom location plan. The alterations have beenmade due to changes in staffing and class structure.

Traffic Management

All pupils (both Primary and Secondary) who can walk to school should be encouraged to do so, with appropriate parental supervision. If you require to bringyour child bycar, then the pupil drop off area will be clearly signposted and is outlined in the diagram overleaf. The key points to remember are:

  • Use the drop off area to the left hand side of the building;
  • When leaving the carparkpleaseturnleft onto Ardenslate Roadto reduce the build-up of traffic in the school grounds; and
  • If possible, park away from the school and walk your child(ren) into the school grounds.

Early Learning and Childcare (ELC / Pre-5)

When dropping off or collecting children from the ELC, please use the gate that allows access into the ELC playground. Staff will close the gate at 9:00am. If you access the playgroundafterthis time, please ensure you close the gate behind you. There will be a buzzer at the classroom door to alert staff.

The Curriculum

Timetables have been drawn up that will ensure Kirnpupils have access to lessons using specialist roomssuch as Art, Drama, Music, and Science within Dunoon Grammar School. Each Primary class has been allocated two periodsof PE per week in either the Games Hall or Gym Hall. Assemblies for Kirn pupils will continue to take place on a Monday morning in the Gym Hall.
