Schools may have two teams of up to four students to work on the powerround. During the power round, each ciphering team will work on one more complex or multi-part question that will be worth a maximum of 100 points possible for having all the correct answers completed in optimal time. (Only one set of answers can be submitted from each four member team.) In addition, there may be relay sets as part of the power round, in which four students work individually on a sequence of problems where each question is dependent on the answer to the preceding problem. A correct final answer in the first three minutes earns the group 50 points, and a correct final answer in minutes four or five earns the group 30 points. Calculators will NOT be allowed for the power round.

Individual scores will be based on the sum of the written test and individual ciphering score. Ties will be broken by the highest written score. The school's score will be the sum of the top four individual scores, plus the highest power round score.

Awards will be given to the top 10 individuals, and at least five team trophies will be given in each level of competition. For both Varsity and Junior Varsity, trophies will also be awarded to the most improved school (who competed at last year’s tournament), and to the best novice school (who did not attend last year’s competition).

The cost for participation is $40 per level, or $70 for both Varsity and Junior Varsity. Please email () to reserve a place for your school. The deadline to receive registration is November 20, 2013. Please send your registration form to:
