Dear Warhawk Adult Tennis Camper:

Now that the summer is here, I am sure you are looking forward to your long weekend at Warhawk Adult Tennis Camp. We hope you will enjoy this session as much as our staff will and that together we can make this a rewarding experience for you. The close quarters that we live in, in the residence hall, will require your cooperation and assistance to make sure everyone has a positive experience. Be sure you review the enclosed camp rules and regulations carefully so that you will know what is expected of you.

See the end of this document. We need some information sent back to us to help us to have the groups organized by the time you arrive. We’ll need you to email us back, so be sure to read that portion.

The enclosed schedule will walk you through the first day at camp. PLEASE READ STEPS 1-5 CAREFULLY PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT THE CAMP.

Be sure to review your list of things to bring, including bedding. The evenings tend to be warm, but occasionally it can be cool, so you may wish to bring an extra blanket or sleeping bag. Don’t forget your pillow and towels, and a few wire hangers for your clothing. Bring an alarm clock to be sure to be on time each day. Also the dorms do not have convenience items like condiments, soap, salt/pepper, cups, utensils, etc, so bring those if interested.

New shoes tend to bring on blisters and many hours of tennis per day tends to fatigue the body and blister the feet and racket hand. We will discuss these problems during instructional sessions and we will have a trainer available for any injuries you might sustain.

This year the tennis camps will have a full-service tennis pro-shop. There you will be able to get your racket serviced with strings and grips. We will also have Wilson demo rackets to try out. We also have hats, T-shirts, long-sleeves, and sweatshirts that can also be purchased at the pro-shop.

We are looking forward to instructing you and improving your tennis game and sincerely hope your stay will be enlightening and rewarding. I know the new friends you will make will be your favorite topic of conversation (and correspondence) for the remainder of the summer.

Sincerely,

Frank Barnes, Director

June 10-12, 2016

Friday Check-in Procedures

DO NOT BE LATE!!

All campers will be checking in at 1:45pm. Please do not show up any later than 2:45pm.

1)Upon arrival at Starin Hallat the corner of Starin Road and Warhawk Drive (see the camper should head into the Starin Hall Lobby. There the camper picks up his/her T-shirt, folder, and room assignment. Campers will next go to up to their room right away and get their rooms set up. Try to show up dressed for tennis and ready to go, as you may need to report to the courts as soon as you get through the check-in line.

2)All campers will report to the tennis courts no later than 3:00p.m. You are certainly welcome to warm up on the courts as early as 2:40 if you would like to do so.

3)We will do some drilling followed by doubles right away to get things going, and to get to know you and your playing ability.

4)Dinner on Friday will be from 5-6:30 p.m. in the dining hall on campus.

5)The tennis courts are lighted for evening play; we will have more instruction after dinner on Friday night. Table tennis tables, pool tables, and foosball are all located in the residence hall basement for recreation during breaks. There is also a TV room in the basement.

6)Please plan on being at camp for the duration if at all possible. We need even numbers for match play, so please plan on staying until checkout on Sunday at 1:00pm.

The dorms are terrific for the adult camps. Starin Hall is the only suite style dorm on campus. Each suite will house 4 campers and they are air-conditioned. Each suite has 2 bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen that has a refrigerator, microwave, and pizza oven. You may want to bring your own coffee maker.

We are eating lunches and dinners in the dining halls, but breakfasts are on your own in the dorms, so bringbreakfast foods and snacks/drinks, or you can head downtown to the local restaurants. I recommend the Sweetspot for breakfast.

Since this is an adult camp, you are allowed to have alcohol in your own room, but not at all anywhere else in the dorm. Please be respectful of this.

On Saturday night we will be heading to the University Center for a Mexican meal and drinks for a fun dinner. We will cover the cost of dinner, but you will be responsible for your drinks.
