Dear students, parents and families,

As we close the 2016-17 school year, I’d like to extend my wishes for a wonderful summer. It has been another outstanding year at Sparrows Point High School, and our students have once again demonstrated their academic, civic and athletic excellence.

Our graduating class, once again, had one of the highest graduation rates for comprehensive high schools in Baltimore County. This year, for the first time, SPHS was recognized by the Washington Post, as one of the state and nation’s “Most Challenging High Schools.” Our students demonstrated gains in both their scores and participation on the PSAT, SAT and Advanced Placement classes and exams.

On the athletic field, our students celebrated with individual and team honors at the county, regional and state levels. Our vocal and instrumental music students excelled in performances and assessments, and performed a highly acclaimed version of Hairspray this spring. Many of our students took advantage of extra-curricular clubs and activities, building leadership skills and furthering the mission and vision of our school. Our SPECIES magnet program finishes another strong year, filled with rigorous coursework, experiential learning and campus projects dedicated to sustainability.

These are but just a few highlights of a stellar year at SPHS. Thank you to our teachers, staff, students and parents for their role in our dynamic learning community.
