2015 Junior Cotillion

Dear Senior Girls and Parents,

The Junior Cotillion, a non-profit organization, was originally conceived as a Mid-Winter Ball in 1983 to formally and socially present senior girls. It includes any T.L. Hanna senior girl who wishes to join. The Cotillion will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the T.L. Hanna Mall. Any senior girl who chooses to join will be presented along with her escort.

This Ball is funded by an initiation fee and hosted by the parents of the Cotillion Court, in honor of their daughters. The $100.00 initiation fee, which is due by September 30th, includes the cost of renting the facility, security, entertainment, flowers for the court, flowers for the escorts, table arrangements, refreshments, decorations, invitations, postage, and publicity photo. Each girl’s picture will be in the Anderson Independent newspaper prior to the 2015 Cotillion. You may choose to buy additional pictures that night, but these are not required or included in the price.

Dress for the Cotillion is a formal event. Girls should wear a long dress. A coat and tie are required for the escorts.

Building codes and insurance laws regulate the number of attendees and therefore space is limited. The number of tickets available for purchase will be determined once we know the number of senior girls joining the Cotillion. Every girl and her escort must have a ticket. The evening of the dance, each T.L. Hannagirl must present their TLH student ID along with their tickets. (In case tickets are lost, we will have a master list.)This ticket only policy will be strictly enforced.

The Cotillion court parents serve as a steering committee with our primary objectives being to schedule and plan the Ball. Committees consist of the following: Refreshments, Flowers, Invitations/Tickets, Coat-Check, Presentation, Clean-up, Publicity/Picture, Chaperones, and Door Greeters/Check-In Table. Parents of the Cotillion Court are expected to serve on a committee.

Please note that the Cotillion is in no way affiliated with T.L. Hanna High School. The school is not responsible for any of the plans or guest lists. If you have any questions or problems pertaining to the Cotillion, please call one of the Co-Chairpersons, Karmon Carpenter(933-2521), Laurie Hiott (634-3811), or Renee Hawkins (276-6172). Please do not call the school.

We hope this letter will help those of you who are not familiar with the Cotillion. A meeting to provide additional information and answer questions is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the lecture hall at T.L. Hanna. It is mandatory for every girl who wishes to join the Cotillion to be present at this meeting with a parent. Parents will choose which committee they would like to serve on at this meeting. Please remember that Wednesday, September 30, 2015 is also the deadline to turn in the attached membership form and the $100.00 initiation fee. Forms and money will be accepted at the meeting on September 15,2015.

We hope that you will choose to be a part of the 2015 Cotillion Court and look forward to seeing you on September 15th.

Sincerely,

Karmon Carpenter, Renee Hawkins, Laurie Hiott
