Dear Scouts and Parents

Welcome to 2015. Hope you all had a great break and enjoyed time in the sun! It has been a fantastic summer!

Scouts is starting this week on the 5th Feb and we will be straight into it! This scout night is right before Waitangi weekend and we are involved with the Waitangi celebration at Carrington Park on the Friday. We are constructing the flag pole and being involved in the open ceremony. This is important to our country and a community so come down and be involved!

It would be great if all scouts could attend and be in correct uniform of black shorts or trousers with clean shirts and scarves, and black or dark shoes are part of this.

Committee meeting: On Tuesday the 10th Feb we will be having a committee meeting, the more parents involved the better so if you are free at 7pm come to the Carterton Event Centre and get involved,

Founder’s day: A couple of weeks later on the 22nd Feb is what is known as Founders day that recognises Sir Baden Powell and what he did in creating Scouting. I will be hosting a Carterton scout groups BBQ at my place. I am aware that the keas and cubs might be involved in the zone camp. The scouts will not be attending this camp as we will be attending the lower north island summer camp on the 6-8th March. Anyway come around and share a BBQ, bring some meat and salad and we will have a share BBQ as a group. More info will probably come out about this after the committee meeting!

Mudslide: On the 1st March is the Mudslide is occurring, this usually occurs on the 22nd of Feb but zone council moved if this year. More information of this closer to the time to confirm time and place.

LNI Summer camp: On the Friday 6th – Sunday 8th March is the lower north Island summer camp. This camp is at Brookfield and is like a mini jamboree. It will cost $60. There will be scouts from all over the region, that is from Palmerston north down. It will be a busy full-on weekend. Standing camp gear will be required. (Link to gear)

Cosgrove: The next camp is the Cosgrove skills camp. This is for the new scouts and possibly some of the PL’s to lead it. Permission for Cosgrove camp link :
NOTE: Cosgrove is now 15-17th May!

And that will take us to Easter and the term will be over!! Wow, this term is short.
