October 25, 2017

Dear Rogers Primary Community Member:

The Halloween celebration this year will be held next Tuesday, October 31. In the effort to reduce traffic and parking issues, Rogers’ students are going to celebrate their parade earlier in the day.

  • Family members who wish to watch our parade are asked to park in the center of the Burchfield upper parking on the playground sidebetween 11:45-12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31. We will be closing the gate at approximately 12:00 p.m. Starting at 12:15 p.m., students will be entering the parking lot from the door we use for dismissal and then promenade around the perimeter of the parking lot twice. There will be plenty of space for everyone to see their child. Students will be going to lunch after the parade.
  • If it rains, please arrive at the same time. We will have our parade in the upper gym. Families will enter the school at the main entrance. Visitors will need to remain in the gym area.
  • Students will remain in their costumes for the rest of the day. Please plan for a comfortable experience for your child.
  • Our parties are from 1:15 p.m.-2:15 p.m. Only parents assigned by the RPTO may attend.
  • After our party, our students will complete a curricular activity related to the day.

Here is what’s going on at Rogers Primary School this week.

  • Students in K-A (Mrs. Gilbert) are learning about bats and made a bat craft to hang in the hallway.

  • In art class (Mrs. Barbour), the kindergarten and first grade students have been experimenting with printmaking. Second and Third have been using their imaginations and creativity to come up with a unique spin to two famous pieces of artwork. FYI- All artwork is displayed on the Rogers art gallery that can be viewed at artsonia.com. If you have not signed up, please contact Mrs. Barbour for more info!
  • In Music class (Mr. Dougherty), grades 1, 2 and 3 will be learning about music in minor keys and dynamicsfrom their annual Halloween game "Skin and Bones" this week. Students may bring in a scary mask if given permission from their parent/guardian.
  • In ENGINright now we are doing amazing things. Our first grader are currently in Coding Camp in Project ENGIN. Second graders learn block coding with the Scratch Jr. Appduring Project ENGIN, and third graders build upon coding skills using MIT's Scratch programming language during Project ENGIN.
  • In Mrs. DM's room, students are learning how to manage anxious feelings!
  • Students in Mrs. Webb's classare learning to use the app Clicker Connect to help us with our writing! We wrote stories about celebrating Halloween and having a parade and party!
