Thank you for your interest in becoming a board member with Charlotte Habitat Young Professionals (HYP). The Charlotte Habitat Young Professionals’ mission is to make affordable housing a matter of conscience and encourage a spirit of service in our community by engaging young professionals to advocate, volunteer, and give within their means.

The Habitat Young Professionals of Charlotte (HYPC) Board is a working board that is made up of 14 board members. As a working board, our board members are actively involved in running networking events, fundraisers and volunteer days. This year we will welcome several new board members. The positions available for application are – Vice Chair, Secretary, Events, Marketing and Sponsorship. For more details on the time requirements and responsibilities for each position, please see the attached roles and responsibilities document.

As you prepare your application, please note the following dates:

  1. September 18th – Board member and member interest meeting (3815 Latrobe Drive)
  2. September 30th – Applications due to Benjamin Agner ()
  3. October 2nd- 6th – Board member interview week (subject to change)
  4. October 25th – First Board meeting for selected individuals
  5. Late October, Early November – Board Member orientation/Day Retreat

  • Ability to participate actively in HYP Board Committee work and meetings
  • Commitment to strategic planning and ability to take a “big picture” view of what would benefit the entire program
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented context
  • A willingness to communicate with affiliates, local groups and other Habitat partners regarding HYP Board issues and decisions
  • Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s foundational principles and mission
