Dear Prospective Annunciation Family,

Welcome! As parents you want the best for your child and you wish him/her success in life. A Catholic education is one of the most important investments you can make for your child’s future. Catholic education can provide your child with the experiences he/she needs to grow and develop into a responsible, productive, and caring person. Annunciation BVM Catholic Elementary School provides a comprehensive Preschool through Eighth Grade educational program based on religious beliefs and values, including full day Preschool and Kindergarten and an extended daycare program. We have a dedicated, professional faculty who works to educate the whole child by providing rich, innovative lessons rooted in our Catholic faith.

Annunciation BVM Catholic School has received recognition form the Rockford Diocese and from the Illinois State Board of Education. Our teachers are highly qualified and state certified. They have taught at Annunciation for an average of eight years. Our teachers regularly attend staff development in-services and workshops to keep up to date on the latest trends in education.

Our students have enjoyed a high degree of academic success as witnessed by 99% of our graduates attending Catholic high schools. Several of our students earn academic scholarships to attend these high schools. Furthermore, our students are consistently listed on honor rolls, serve in leadership positions, and play on varsity teams at the Catholic high schools.

The curriculum is reviewed and updated on a regular, rotating schedule. It is a rigorous curriculum concentrating on phonics, reading comprehension, writing, and computation. Emphasis is also given to note taking, critical thinking, applications, and study skills. In addition to core classes we offer instruction in physical education, art, technology, music, and library skills. Extensive extra-curricular activities provide students the opportunity to work with others and develop leadership qualities.

Religious formation is the cornerstone of our school. Our students have the privilege of attending Mass twice each week. The students actively plan and participate in these liturgies. They are also blessed with the healing grace of Reconciliation during the school year. Living out the Beatitudes is demonstrated by the extensive service performed by all our students. Catholic morals and values are integrated everyday throughout the entire curriculum.

Finally, our parents are actively involved in many aspects of our school, including academics, athletics, and extra-curricular activities. We know that parents are the primary educators of their children and welcome their support. Please take a few minutes to visit with us and see for yourself the benefits your child(ren) will receive as a student of Annunciation BVM Catholic Elementary School. I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jennifer Wardynski

Principal
