Dear Parents/Guardians,

My name is Shannon McNamara, and I will be your child’s Science teacher for this school year. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to my Science classroom.

I received my BS and MA degrees from Wayne State University in Science Education with a minor in English. I began teaching in the fall of 2000 at Brownstown Middle School.

Throughout this school year, I have a mission with my students. I would like to create caring, responsible students who respect science in the world around them. I want to motivate the students to care for themselves and the other people in their lives. I want the students to learn the importance of responsibility and how to be responsible students. I will also encourage my students to appreciate science and what it has done for our society. Hopefully you will join me in this mission.

I would appreciate any assistance you can give me and your child throughout the school year. You are the most important person in your child’s life, so it is important that you can do as much as possible to help me prepare your child for the future. This can be done by helping your child with homework, contacting me with any concerns, and following suggestions that I give you about helping your child.

I am also looking forward to meeting you at our open house on Thursday or at parent teacher conferences on October 27th. If you have any questions or concerns before that time, please feel free to contact me. I am eager to begin this school year with you and your child.

Sincerely,

Shannon C. McNamara
