Dear Parents/Guardians,

Despite the three day relentless rainstorm, our school has thrived in academics and positive character building. Monday was an incredible start to the week, for we celebrated our seven Cougar Character traits by involving students in a number of activities that demonstrated and modeled the definitions. We couldn't have asked for more successful results and the day was a blast!

In mathematics students have learned multiple ways of adding and subtracting in hopes of finding a method that can suit their individual ways of thinking and learning. Mr. Hall will be sending homework due on Monday of next week, supporting student's knowledge of interpreting number stories using a Parts and Total Diagram.

In other mathematical news, we'd like to thank all of those families who were able to brave the storm and come to our Math Fun Night, hosted by Principal Jill Cohen and the Math Committee. We had a tremendous turnout, which made the night exciting for the committee and the students who were there. We hope that it was educational and inspirational to see your students involved in finding joy in mathematics.

Literacy groups are working hard and becoming more independent in writing about their reading. Students will begin sharing these reading journal entries with their peers, showing them what they are enjoying in their reading. We think it will spark some interest in reading new books!

Your child has also been set up with an IXL account and can access it at home. Both Math and Literacy are available to practic on this website. The address to use to login is: www.ixl.com/signin/rsu24 Each student has his or her own login number, and the password is the same for everyone – abc. If your child has not brought home the number to log in, please let me know and we will get it to you.

We hope you get to do something fun with your family this weekend. Enjoy!

Mr. Hall & Mrs. Sobel
