Dear Parents/Guardians, May 18, 2017

●  The students have worked in their workbooks on language arts and written a story in writing.

●  The students have worked in their workbooks on language arts and written a story in writing.They have all been working on their math skills including counting, numbers, shapes, rounding, money, time, temperature, estimating, 10 frames, base 10 blocks, story problems, fractions, addition, subtraction, regrouping, and multiplication/ division for the 3rd and 4th graders.

●  In reading the 2nd graders have been reading suffix endings -ing, -ed, -er, -est, -en, -able, -ish, -y, -ive, -ly, -ty, -less, -ty, -ness, -ment, -ful. They have been adding suffixes to an unchanging baseword. EX. thankful, publisher, selfish The students have read a Scholastic News article or a Wilson Reading article.

●  In reading the Kindergarten and 1st graders have been reading suffix ending -ed saying /ed/, /d/, and /t/. They have been adding suffixes to an unchanging baseword. The students have read a Scholastic News article or a Wilson Reading article.

●  In reading the 3rd and 4th graders have been working on reading and spelling words with a suffix added to words that end in silent e. Ex. giving, settler, management, nicest After this lesson is over they will be putting all of their skills to practice and reading a Wilson Reading article or a Scholastic News article for the remainder of the school year.

●  Fresh Fruit and Veggies will be Tuesday-Friday and your student will need a snack from home on Mondays. The last day for Fresh Fruit and Veggies will be May 19. Your students will need a snack from home all next week.

●  Please encourage your student to do my summer reading packet.

●  May 19-1st Graders will be going to the aquarium in UT. The students need to be to school by 6:45. The bus will leave at 7:00. They will return to the school about 4:30.

●  May 19-2nd Graders will be going to Fossil Butte. They will be leaving at 8:15. You will want to bring your student about 8:00. You will need to get your student to school that morning since buses aren’t to school by then. They will return about 3:00. They will need a water bottle because they will go on a little hike. They also need to wear long socks, jeans, and tennis shoes. Many times they will have the students tuck their pants into their long socks so that they don’t get ticks up their pant legs. I have been going on this field trip for about 10-12 years and I have never seen a tick on me.

●  May 22-Meet your teacher day. The 4th graders will go to Monroe. The other students will go and meet their classroom teacher that they join for parties, field trips, specials, and lunch. We will all be meeting our teachers at 9:00.

●  May 23-Our MAP reward will be this day. The kids chose to wear costumes and have root beer floats. They do have to earn these rewards by doing their very best on their MAP tests.

●  May 23-1st Grade will be tie-dye their t-shirts. Please don’t forget to have your student bring their shirts.

●  May 24-Kindergarten Graduation will be at 1:30 at Truman.

●  May 25-Field day-Swimming/Bowling

o  The Kindergarteners, 1st graders, and 2nd graders will be going bowling between 10:00-2:45. They take turns going to the bowling alley.

▪  Kdg. 11:45-1:05

▪  1st 1:05-2:25

o  The 3rd and 4th graders will be going swimming at the Rock Springs Recreation Center from 9:00-12:00.

●  May 26-Last Day of school for students-This day will be early out at 1:00 due to staff development.

o  9:00-Talent Show

o  10:45ish-Dodge Ball for the 4th graders vs. teachers

o  1:00-Students are released from school

●  Don’t forget ESY starts June 6 and goes until Aug. 3. It will be here at Truman. Don’t forget it is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. You should be receiving a letter from special services letting you know what time your student will attend and the bus schedule. If you have any questions please email or call me.
