Dear Parents and Carers s17

30th November 2017

Dear Parents and carers,

I am writing to advise parents and carers with regard to the work of the newly established PTFA (Parent, Teacher, Friends Association) at Mill Hill. Mill Hill Primary Academy is delighted to have an establishing PTFA, due to the hard work and commitment of parents keen to work with the school and Governors to develop a strong PTFA moving forward.

Over the Autumn term, there have been a number of invitations published to all parents, for parents to attend meetings. Through these Autumn Term meetings, it has been a key priority to establish a PTFA committee, so the open invitations to meetings enabled any parent wishing to be involved at committee level to attend and offer to undertake a committee role.

Following those open meetings this term, the committee has now been established as follows:

PTFA Chair: Teri-Lea Cotterill

PTFA Vice-Chair: Jane Yates

PTFA Secretary: Vikki Hopper

PTFA Treasurer: Sian Rimmer

Additional members of the PTFA committee are: April Hughes. Nathan Legg.

Mill Hill Primary Academy Senior Leadership Links: Michaela Moore. Sharon Bates.

Another key priority for the school and the PTFA committee this term has been establishing a PTFA constitution and Terms of Reference, which enable the group to be formally established as a Charitable Trust. The Constitution and Terms of Reference have now been reviewed by City learning Trust Director of Procurement and Compliance and adopted by the PTFA. The Local Governing Board for the school will formally ratify the PTFA documentation when it meets in January 2018. The PTFA for Mill Hill Primary Academy will now be formally registered as a Charitable Trust, with charitable status.

Members of the PTFA Association are: The parents, guardians or carers of any pupil currently attending the Academy plus teaching and non-teaching staff currently employed by the Academy, the Trust or in any other Association, for example a Friends group, those described above and any person over the age of 18 wishing to offer appropriate support or help to the Academy and who is accepted by the Committee as a Member.

In the Spring Term 2018, on Thursday 1st March at 6pm, the PTFA committee will call a General meeting to which all members of the association will be invited. Reminder information will be sent out to all parents and carers, City Learning Trust and Academy staff and Governors nearer the time. The agenda for the general meeting will be as follows:

·  Welcome and introductions to the Committee.

·  The Constitution and Terms of Reference explained.

·  Activities and events to date and planned activities and events moving forward.

·  The accounts of the PTFA –income and expenditure.

·  Open Forum – to take ideas and suggestions for future PTFA activities and events from members.
