13th November 2017

Dear Parent or Carer,

Following on from the success of the previous two trips, the English department are very excited to be able to offer an overnight trip to London for 45 Year Eight and Year Nine students. The aim of the trip is to enrich their study of English by seeing the different contexts in which stories are brought to life. We are booking the trip through NST, who have a wealth of experience in organising fun and educational trips, to ensure that your child has the very best experience whilst they’re away.

The cost of the trip is £212 pp and it will take place on 28th and 29th June 2018. Although an exact itinerary will be released closer to the time, the trip includes the following:

·  Executive coach travel to and from London, and between all activities.

·  Overnight hotel accommodation at Royal National Hotel, Russell Square (central London)

·  A tour of the Harry Potter film studios (Warner Bros Studio)

·  A two-course evening meal at Planet Hollywood

·  An evening performance of a West-End musical (Matilda the Musical)

·  A tour of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre

·  A demonstration of Shakespeare’s use of stage fighting by actors from ‘The Globe’

·  A 90-minute workshop on a Shakespeare play

Places are limited to 45 students. To manage this allocation as fairly as possible, places will be allocated on a first come first served basis with as equal an allocation of Y8 and Y9 students as possible . If you would like your child to take part in the trip, please complete the slip and ask your child to return the slip to Miss Godzicz in C32 by Friday 24th November. Places will be allocated on this date and if your child has a place, they will be notified through their tutor in the week beginning Monday 27th November. At this point, instructions on how to pay the deposit of £50 will be given, as well as the dates for subsequent instalments.

Please note that in the case of an emergency we will be referring to the Parental Consent Form that you completed for use during this academic year, commencing September 2017. If there have been changes to any information you have submitted about your contact details or your child’s medical needs, then please request a replacement form from reception. This must be submitted prior to the visit.

Yours sincerely

Miss G. Godzicz
