Congratulations on your new position and welcome to the University of Wisconsin, System Administration! In anticipation of your new employment, there are a few things that we want to be sure you know to help make your transition as smooth as possible. You will also receive a letter from Jenny Hergenrother with detailed benefits information.
On DAY, DATE, please arrive at [time] at [place]. [Contact name] will plan to meet you at the front desk and show you to your work area. Please be sure to bring your identification to complete your I-9 form. You will receive information about completing your I9 directly from Human Resources and our vendor, GIS.
During your first day of employment, in addition to spending time with me, you will meet briefly with:

During your first week, you will also need to:
- Meet with Cheryl Sullivanto discuss Payroll & Benefits
- Get a Wiscard (photo ID card). Go to room 149 Union South; 8:00-5:00 M-F; take a driver’s license, passport, or state photo ID.

There is also an onboarding website which can be a great resource for you with. Please take some time to review this website and learn a little more about the UW System, access relevant policies and review your benefits information.
For those employees located in Van Hise Hall, parking on UW-Madison’s campus is available. You will need to obtain a Wiscard and NetID before you can request parking.
If interested in parking in a UW-Madison owned lot, after getting a Wiscard and a aNetID
- Ask Diana Trendt (r 608-262-1311) to be added to the Parking Application System. She will assign a priority number, based on hire date. When she’s done this, you can apply. More information on parking can be found here:
- Go to the permit application system and apply for either a Base Lot (price: $838/year, $956/year or $1199/year, depending on lot) or Flex parking (price: $4/first 4 hours, $1 per hour thereafter, $8/day maximum) permit:
- Transportation Services will send an email with the permit assignment.
In addition to these parking options, UWSA employees may obtain a bus pass that allows you to ride all Madison city buses. You must show your Wiscard and pay an annual fee (currently $24) to obtain a bus pass at a UW Transportation Services office. There are refrigerators and microwaves available to you in our kitchenette for your convenience; [however; on your first day, we will plan a lunch to welcome youto the team so no need to bring your lunch].
