Dutch beginners’ course (WM1115TU)for Master and Exchange students starting Monday November 13th, 2017

Evening courses

The elementary courses Dutch for beginners are held in the evening (sometimes there is also a lunch group) and have a slower pace than our intensive daytime courses. Four times a year we offer the beginners courses Elementary I and II and the courses Intermediate I and II. Everyone (from in and outside TU Delft) can enrol, but prospective BSc students are strongly advised to enrol in the day-programme of the intensive courses (see website). Enrolment through Brightspace is only for Msc and exchange students and Bsc students following an English programme.

Course description

Course period: November 13th‘17– January 29th’18, (classes from Nov 20th –Jan 18th)

Number of lessons:2 lessons of 1 hour per week on Mondays and Thursdays.After/before

each lesson there is a half-hour listening test in the computer room.

Study load:Around 8-10 hrs per week

Presence:At least 80%

For this course you need the text book “Nederlands voor Buitenlanders” from the series “De Delftse methode” (2 audiocd’s and cd-rom included). In addition to the book you can order the Delftse methode online or the Delftse methode app, if it is not possible to use the cd-rom. Please, have look on > Nederlands voor beginners. The book can be ordered at this website (no delivery charge inside the Netherlands). It is also possible to purchase the book from the Waltman bookshop in the ID Faculty (building 32, Landbergstraat 15, tel. 015-2787523). Make sure you buy the FOURTH edition (ISBN 9789085066675)! How to enrol?

1. Pre-enrol

Go toBrightspace, search for “Dutch” and enrol in:

Pre-enrollment for Introductionary Lesson & Test Dutch Course(tpm-preenroll-dutch)

By that action you register for theIntroduction Lesson & theIntroduction Test Dutch (see step 2).

2. Go to the Introductory Lesson (obligatory!)

On Monday November 13th, 2017at 17.45h,in the ??? (room to be announced).Information will be given on the content of the course, the material needed, how to study etc. Students who don’t show up at this lesson are not allowed to enter the test and to enrol in the course!!

3. Do the Introduction Test

Students sit theAdmission Exam onWednesday November 15th, 2017 between 17.45 and 19.30hrsin ??? (room to be announced).This is a computer test based on chapters 1 and 2 of our course book. You can prepare these lesson through the website . Follow the link Nederlands voor Buitenlanders les 1 and les 2. More information will be provided during the introductory lesson.

4. Results+ Enrolment

Will be announced on Thursday November 16th, 2017 around 10.00 AMon Brightspace. Go to the appropriate course (WM1115TU Dutch Elementary I Q22017-2018). With sufficient result (80% or more) you are able to registerviaBrightspace(from 11:00h) for one of the groups of your choice, provided there is a place available. When all groups are full, you will be assured of a place in Q3.Those with a result below 80%can do self-study (with a final test and 3 ects. after passing) or do the next Admission Test for Q3. 5. The lessons

The lessons start on Monday November 20th, 2017.You will receive a timetable via Brightspace (so keep an eye on your TU Delft email address). If you cannot come to the first class or if you decide to drop the course, you should send an email to and to your teacher (see timetable for email address). If you don’t attend the first lesson without notice, your place will be given to someone else. If you drop the course, you cannot take the course again later and you will get a poor result in Osiris.
