Dear Ms McWatt,

Thank you for your request for information which we received on 8th March 2010. I am pleased to provide the following response to your enquiry.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board was formed on 1st October 2009 by combining North West Wales NHS Trust (West Division), North Wales NHS Trust (formerly Conwy & Denbighshire NHS Trust (Central Division) and North East Wales NHS Trust (East Division)), and the six North Wales Local Health Boards (Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham), I should advise you that we are currently reviewing and standardising policies, procedures and other documentation so you may find that some information is collated and reported in different ways.

You asked us:

1) I would like to know how many items were reported as stolen from the hospitals under your health board in 2009.

2) I would also like a breakdown of these figures for each hospital.

3) I would also like a breakdown of the top ten items that were most commonly reported stolen, and the top ten most valuable items stolen for each hospital.

Response

1) Please find below a list of items that were reported as being stolen, please note that not all incidences reported the value of the item and therefore it is difficult to give an accurate top ten most valuable items stolen:

East Division = 28 incidents were reported under the heading of "Proven, alleged or suspected theft or loss" for 2009.

Central Division = 19 incidents were reported under the heading of "Proven, alleged or suspected theft or loss" for 2009.

West Division = 13 incidents were reported under the heading of “Proven alleged or suspected theft or loss for 2009.
