It is my pleasure to invite you to our sixth Liberty Taekwondo Championship at Hinesville, Georgia.

This tournament will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the SHUMAN RECREATION CENTER, located at 800 Tupelo Trail, Hinesville, GA 31313.

Rules: Modified World Taekwondo Federation rules apply to this tournament

Competition will start with Poomse at 9:15 A.M. followed by Sparring.

Door registration begins October 29, 2011, at 8:15 A.M. Cash ONLY, and ends at 11:00 AM.

Free T-Shirt if they register before October 4th, 2011.

Pre-registration packets must be postmarked no later than October 04, 2011. We will only accept certified checks or money orders (see our website for details). We are proud to say that we expect some excellent competition. We hope you will add us to your tournament calendar!

NOTE: All black belts, coaches, and referees should attend the referee meeting to be held at 8:30 A.M. All schools bringing athletes should plan to bring at least one referee. Referees will get paid if they stay until the tournament is over. Incentives will be available to head instructors based on the number of athletes who participate. If you travel more than 6 hours to participate in our tournament, please call Mr. Hein 912-369- 5368 for assistance with lodging.

mandatory equipment:

Olympic Sparring: White uniforms in good condition.

Protective gear: chest protector, headgear, shin-instep pads, forearm pads, mouthpiece, and groin cup (male) must be worn to compete. No eyeglasses or safety glasses of any kind will be permitted for sparring. Failure to have the appropriate equipment when called to the ring may result in a penalty. sparring divisions:

Sparring divisions will be divided by age, belt, and weight. The tournament director and/or the Division Coordinator (Master Rafael Medina, and Master Edmond Conyers) reserve the right to consolidate divisions to ensure that everyone competes.

In consideration of your acceptance of my entry, I do hereby, myself, my heirs, executors and administration, waive, release, and forever discharge all rights and claims for damages which I may have or which may accrue to me against the Tournament Director, Liberty County Recreation Department, LCRD Sport Taekwondo Center, Shuman Recreation Center or their respective officers, agents, representatives, successors, and/or assignees, and against any competitor for any and all damages which may arise our of traveling to, participating in, and returning from such athletic competition. I understand that Taekwondo is a body contact sport, and further understand all the contents of the rules and regulations and general information and I agree with them entirely. I understand the nature of taekwondo activities and believe that my experience and capabilities, or that of the minor child, to be qualified to participate in this athletic meet. I understand that taekwondo activities involve risk and dangers of serious bodily injury, including permanent disability, paralysis and death. These risks and dangers may be cause by me or minor child’s own actions or inactions, and/or the actions or inactions of others participation in the athletic meet. I fully understand that any medical treatment I receive will be out of the “First Aid” type only. In addition, I consent that any pictures taken of me in connection with this event can be used for publicity, etc. and I waive compensation in regard hereto.

scoring:

·  Referees and judges shall award a score, on a scale of seven (7) to ten (10), ten being the highest, to each contestant by display of the score card.

·  Any fraction of one point may be awarded.

·  The highest and lowest scores will be dropped from total computation. In the case of a tie, however, all scores will be computed to break the tie. In the case of only three judges, or if the tie is still not broken, the tied competitors will perform their forms again.

scoring areas: The body, by kick or punch, where it is covered by a properly fitted chest protector

warninigs: The following may be penalized by the deduction of 1/2 point (Two “Kyong-gos” shall be counted as an additional one (1) point for the opposing contestant). 1- Crossing the boundary line; 2-Falling down; 3- Avoiding or delaying the match; 4- Grabbing, holding or pushing the opponent; 5- Butting or attacking with knee; 6- Attacking below the waist; 7- Hitting the opponent's face with the hand; 8-Uttering undesirable remarks or any misconduct on the part of a contestant or a coach; 9- Lifting the knee to avoid a valid attack or impede the progress of an attack

deductions: The following may be penalized by the deduction of one full point; (A “Gam-jeom” shall be counted as an additional point for the opposing contestant). 1- Throwing down the opponent by grabbing or hooking the attacking foot in the air or by pushing the opponent with the hand; 2- Intentionally attacking the opponent’s face with the hand; 3- Attacking the opponent after “Kal-yeo”; 4- Violent or extreme remarks or behavior on the part of a contestant or a coach; 5- A coach or contestant interrupting the progress of the match; 6- Attacking the fallen opponent; 7- Manipulating, or attempting to manipulate, the electronic scoring system.

matches: (Color belt) All matches will be single elimination; two 1:30 minute rounds with a 30 second rest between rounds. In the event of a tie, a sudden death round will be added. If there is still no score, the referee will make a decision based on superiority. Junior Safety Rules apply to all divisions ages 13 and below. Senior Safety Rules apply to all division’s ages 18 and above. Any division with fewer than three competitors may be eliminated and combined with another division closest in size and/or rank level. Any division with more than ten competitors may be divided into smaller divisions. A change of any division is done at the discretion of the Tournament Director and/or the Division Coordinator. All byes are at the discretion of the Tournament Director and/or the Division Coordinator.
