Dear Locums Agency,

Presbyterian is excited to share that it is now easier for locum tenens providers to complete EHR training prior to their first clinical shift. We’ve created a PHS e-Cademyso Locum partners can now take computer based training modules for the majority of patient care roles.

Key Benefits

  • Increased flexibility:Locumtenens candidates can complete Presbyterian EHR training at their convenience,24/7, from a personal computer or tablet.
  • Simplification:Locum providersare able to remotely complete Presbyterian EHR training while continuing work assignments with other organizations. This eliminates training logistics planning and reduces advance time commitments, making it easier to work with PHS.
  • Continued Reimbursement for Training: Locum providerswill continue to be compensated for EHR training. Each e-training program has been timed, and a generous buffer added, to ensure fair reimbursement for time spent completing.

PHS e-Cademy Participation Guidelines

PHS’s e-Cademy is now the preferred method of training for our locum tenens. Locum candidates must have prior EHR experience to complete training through PHS’s e-Cademy. For candidates without prior EHR experience, on-site instructor-led training classes continue to be available.

Please note, going forward, Presbyterian will only reimburse locum candidates for the duration of e-Cademy training. We are happy to aid locum agencies in developing candidate EHR skills by provide expanded instructor-led training, however, this is now a shared expense. Locum agencies will be responsible for covering the added time beyond e-Cademy training and associated travel costs.

Surgery-specific e-Cademy will be available in May. In the interim, a blend of e-Cademy & live training is needed. PHS will reimburse fully for both.

Locum candidates must protect and keep private PHS e-Cademy system access and training content. Candidates must personally complete all assigned training without assistance.

How e-Cademy Works

  • Locum candidates are enrolled in PHS’s e-Cademy as application credentialing completes. A personal email address is required to complete the enrollment process.
  • Training must be completed one to two weeks prior to the first scheduled shift. Typically, two (2) to three (3) weeks will be given in advance of this deadline to complete e-Cademy training.
  • Short knowledge and work flow tests are required at the completion of the modules to ensure basic, accurate functioning. Candidates are given three (3) attempts to pass with a minimum score of 80%. If scoring <80% on the third test attempt, the candidate will be locked out of e-Cademy and an automatic email notification will be sent to Presbyterian. Our PHS Locums Recruiting team will contact you to coordinate alternative training at the agency’s expense.
  • PHS e-Cademy participation guidelines are integrated into the initial log on process and an e-acceptance is required.

We’re excited to provide this new, streamlined, more flexible approach to EHR training. We hope the added convenience makes it easier to fill locum requests while continuing to provide advance training on organizational workflows, preparing locums for a smooth on-boarding and success.

Sincerely,

Kelly Herrera
