Temple Expansion Report - August 2006

The JSMC Board and Construction Committee are pleased to provide you with an update on the temple expansion. As of now, the foundation, walls and overall exterior structure are ready. The Internal walls, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and ceiling works is being worked on. The JSMC Board and the Construction committee are working very hard to keep the construction work on schedule while dealing with the various construction challenges. Based on the climate conditions so far, the availability of the construction material and many other factors, we have received the following revised projected timelines from Sachi Construction (Mr. Rohit Patel):
The Prayer Hall, Dining Hall, Classrooms, Offices and all other rooms will be ready for use by November 2006. The Main Temple will be ready by June 2007. The Inauguration and the Pratishtha Mahotsva dates will be announced soon.
Just to give you an insight on current activities, the marble is being shipped from India, and we have already received four containers of shipment; our sincere thanks to Mitesh Kamdar of World Wide Logistics, Inc. for helping us with this process. Shri Dipchandbhai Gardi is facilitating the process of securing the marble donations from India; and we give our sincere thanks to him. The Murtis and Gokhalas are being prepared under the guidance and supervision of Shri Jinchandraji Maharaj in India.
Here is where we stand from a financial point of view:
The total project cost is estimated at $7 Million. A total of $5 Million has been paid to the Construction Company. Of that, about $1.5 Million has been withdrawn from JSMC accounts, and $3.5 Million has been paid from a $6 million Construction Loan from Republic Bank. Currently we are paying Prime for the loan interest. Based on this, our immediate goal is to generate $3.5 Million from Gheeboli, Fixed Pledges, Donations and Loans. That way we will avoid paying huge amounts in interest. We understand that money coming in through various donations schemes might be delayed as we are allowing that to be paid within 3 years, but if possible we are requesting all of our members to pay their pledges as soon as possible and we accept interest free loans from our members. So, if you are interested in giving your money as an interest free loan, please let us know, we would be more than happy to fulfill your request.
Whatever progress we have made so far is mainly because of your support and donations. Without each and every member’s support, it would be very hard to complete this project. This is your temple, your next generations’ temple. We urge you for your support. As originally planned, each member family should donate at least $5000. You don’t have to donate all at once; you can pledge now and pay within three years. Paryushan Mahaparva is here. Paryushan is the most important week in a year where we pray and detach ourselves from material world. This is the time when we spend some percentage of our earnings towards religion. If you haven’t contributed towards the temple expansion, please don’t wait, and donate. Let’s push this project to its completion as targeted. Attached below is the current list of open items.
