Dear First Graders,
Welcome to first grade at Rollan Melton Elementary! My name is Mrs. Stallworth and I will be your teacher this year. Our room is B12. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and having a great year! Here is a list of some supplies for you to bring on “Meet the Teacher Day” on Friday, August 7 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. or on the first day of school. Please put your name on all of your supplies except for the community items*. Please remember that some supplies need to be restocked during the year. · #2 pencils and pencil top erasers (please sharpen )
· Gum eraser
· 6 Glue sticks
· Scissors (Fiskar brand)
· Pencil box (the snap shut kind)
· Crayons (16 or 24 count)
· Watercolor paints (Crayola Brand)
· 12 inch ruler with both inches and centimeters
· *Dry Erase markers-broad tip (no names-to be put in a community basket)
· 2 – 2 pocket folders
· *2 or more large boxes of Kleenex
· *1 box of Hand Wipes (any brand for occasional clean ups)
· Backpack
· Coins for math – 2 quarters, 5 dimes, 5 nickels and 20 pennies. In a sealable container i.e. film canister, Altoid Tin, etc.
· $25 cash or check made out to Rollan Melton ES, this will be used for Scholastic magazine-$5.00, art projects, gifts for Mother’s Day, science experiments, etc., this does not include field trips.
· Daily healthy snack. First grade does not eat lunch until 12:30; please send a healthy snack in with them each day. (no drinks please)
I am looking forward to meeting you on Friday, August 7 at 3:00 or on the first day of school. School begins at 9:25 and is dismissed at 3:30. On school days please line up where it is marked Room B-12. Don’t forget early release Wednesdays! Students will be dismissed at 2:45 every Wednesday. Please complete and return the enclosed letter with your child by the first day of school so I know where they go after school.
