Friday Newsletter October 2, 2015

Dear Families,

This week we focused on “When do things happen at school? and Who works at our school?” Our daily picture schedule helps remind us when things happen in our classroom. The use of an egg timer and clean up song is a reminder to everyone that we are ready to transition to a new activity and cleaning our choice areas. On Friday, we had a WOW visit from one of our school workers, Ms. Betty Ann. She works in our lunchroom and prepares our children’s daily lunches. We were very thankful that she shared part of her morning to come and talk about her job.

Birthday News: Gerico turned 4 on October 1st . We want to wish him a very happy birthday.

The Gingerbread man stories are inspiring the children to create a classroom collage of their personal gingerbread people and animals. This week we read The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Baby, Ten Gingerbread Men and The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School.

Reminders:

1)  Darren’s family is in charge of snack on Monday. Please bring items from the carbohydrate list (saltines, smart popcorn, ritz crackers, and something from the fruit/dairy list (applesauce, pudding cups, fruit, etc.) for the whole week. The children needto always have two choices on the table for snack. There are 15 children. We have a nut allergy in our room, so please make sure it is nut free!

2)  Need supplies for gingerbread cooking on Tuesday. Can someone please donate 2 sticks of butter and a bag of all purpose flour.

Save the date: October 28thwill be our first class trip to Trailside Nature center in Watchung, NJ. Thank you for all of the parents who signed up to be our chaperones for the day. I will email you reminders as we get closer to our trip.
