Dear Families of 3-C,

We had such a wonderful start to our week today! The children were extremely excited to complete a ton of kind acts for the start of our Kindness Challenge. The acts of kindness performed elicited so much happiness and laughter throughout the day. The children were also extremely kind to one another during the class spelling bee, which was such an exciting and successful event! Please remind the children to wear workout clothes and sneakers tomorrow, as well as to keep the acts of kindness coming!

In math, we are progressing forward in unit 5. As we progress further into the academic year, it is becoming even more important that the students begin to memorize all of their basic multiplication facts. This week, we will be taking a closer look at using different strategies to solve unknown multiplication facts.

In reading, the children are continuing to read their nonfiction books. They will continue to research their first animal over the course of the next couple of days. Towards the end of the week, the children will use the strategies that they have learned so far to begin researching a second animal.

In writing, the children are beginning to draft a nonfiction book on the Lenni Lenape. They are diligently taking notes on this topic in social studies and using these notes to write strong nonfiction paragraphs. As we move forward in this nonfiction-writing unit, the children will eventually draft and publish a nonfiction book on the animals that they are currently studying in reading.

We will have our quiz on NJ tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for working with your child at home to ensure that s/he is prepared for this assessment!

Best,

Cayla Casey
