Nutmeg Portuguese Water Dog Club is proud to announce it’s All-Breed Health Clinic to be held on Sunday,April 3rd, 2005. Marjorie Neaderland, DVM, DACVO, will be testing our dogs’ eyes. Dr Charles Duffy will be providing X-raying, Home-Again™ microchipping and blood drawing for OptiGen and GM-1.
MPlease remember, this is a clinic, and there will be no time for consultation with the Veterinarians.
MWe will be offering a one-time free CERF Testing to older Portuguese Water Dogs - that is PWDs born on or before 4/3/98. You will need to submit the CERF eye form to CERF, and you must fill out and submit a PWDCA Health Registry Form.
MWe are offering X-rays of hips and elbows for OFA evaluation or preliminary screening. At this clinic, Rompum will be used as a tranqualizer and Yohimbine as a reversal instead of the traditional anaesthesia for X-raying. If your dog weighs more than 70 pounds, please contact Kathy O’Rourke before registering it for x-rays.
MIf you are considering breeding your PWD, you should visit the PWDCA’s website at It is important that your dog be X-rayed for hip and elbow dysplasia, have an OptiGen and GM-1 blood test, and have an up-to-date CERF exam.
MThe GM-1 and OptiGen test forms are available on the internet. The GM-1 form is found at . The price of the GM-1 test will be determined by the # of vials collected the day of the clinic. The OptiGen form is found at - choose online submission and you will receive a 5% discount!

We are sending club members who have bred litters several copies of the clinic forms and ask that they copy the forms and send them out to the puppy owners.
Our Clinic is offering it all at bargain prices!!! The AKC now requires a microchip if your dog’s OFA or CERF is to be registered with them.
Please read the enclosed carefully. Kathy O’Rourke will be taking your registrations for the clinic. Please send her a check for the correct amount, filling out the enclosed form(s) properly. We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible - remember, space is limited, it’s first-come-first-served! Reservations must be received by March 18th. Don’t forget to send a copy of your dog’s AKC registration with each form.
