Dear candidate and parent/guardian:

We are pleased that you have expressed an interest in the cheer/pom/mascot programs in the Moore Public Schools District for the 2018-2019 school year. Many people have worked diligently over the years to make the cheer/pom/mascot programs a successful and positive experience for those who are selected as squad members. Please read through this entire packet carefully. All packets must be completed and returned to the sponsor at the school for which the student wishes to tryout for by 12:00 pm on March 14th, 2018. Packets will not be accepted after this time.

Points of Interest:

1)An informational sheet that includes date, times, and locations for all upcoming tryout related events is located on the next page.

2)A parent/contestant informational meeting will be held for all interested individuals at Southmoore High School on February 26th.

3)As per OSSAA rules, all participants must be in school all day the day of the clinics. Students must also be present the entire day of tryouts or the day preceding tryouts.

4)Tryout times are subject to change depending on the number of try out packets that are returned. Participants will be notified of time changes as soon as possible. It is the responsibility of the participant to show up for the designated tryout at the appropriate time.

5)Parents and guardians may view the tryouts in the gymnasium. Admittance in the gym will be given to the candidate’s mother, father, and/or guardians only. Candidates must complete Form A of this packet and list the names of the parents/guardians if they plan to view the tryouts in the gym. If available, all others interested may view the tryouts via a closed circuit screen in the Southmoore auditorium. A fee of $5 will be charged to view the tryouts in the auditorium. This one-time fee will cover all junior high and high school tryouts in 2018.

6)The MPS Cheer/Pom/Mascot by laws are included in this packet. Please read carefully.

7)Individuals wishing to tryout must complete forms A-I that are included in the packet and return with a $30 tryout fee to the appropriate school sponsor. Note: Forms F, E, H, I, & J must be filled out online unless you are entering the 7th grade. All 6th grade students trying out for 7th grade must fill out hard copies of these forms. Checks are made out to Moore Public Schools and must be written in blue or black ink only. The tryout fee is non-refundable. Please note that form A requires a notary signature and form C requires a physical signed by a physician.

8)If a contestant is chosen for the squad, the participant will need to bring a $275 check for uniform rental fee to the first designated practice/meeting. Checks are made out to Moore Public Schoolsand must be written in blue or black ink only.

9)An estimated cost list is included on the back of the letter given to the participant at the time the packet was distributed. Please read carefully.

10)Any injuries that occur after the date of the physical but prior to tryouts must be reported to the school coach and the participant must supply a new written release from a physician 24 hours prior to tryouts.
