Dear Brother Knights:
As you are aware, all volunteers regardless of the organization you belong to (such as Knights of Columbus) or as an independent volunteer wanting to assist in church activities, must provide the parish church a copy of the following Pennsylvania background checks:
1. PA Criminal History Check and
2. A Child Abuse History Clearance.
Both history clearances are easily obtained online at NO COST to you. Please login to the following services to obtain your clearances.
Save the reports for your records and make copies the reports for the following purposes:
· Keep a copy for your records.
· Provide St. Stanislaus and St. Maria Goretti a copy for their records. Just drop a copy off at their parish office or mail it.
· Provide a copy to SK David Maginnis, PGK & DD. Dave has volunteered to keep a record of all the Pius IX Council 4396 members’ criminal and child abuse records to use with any future council volunteer activities. This way council members don’t have to provide any additional copies for new or future volunteer projects in or outside of parish activities. You can email your copy to David at .
As an example, these certifications are needed when our council conducts breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, festival beer garden, etc. on parish property.
As a side note: The Knights, in general are Not Required to attend the two and half hour “Child Safe Environment” course and online test which is mandated by the Archdiocese for school employee’s or positions where children are present, such as; CCD teacher, coach, reading to children, etc.
